The “Forum on Handling of Public Complaints and Proposals in New Era：From Contradiction Solving to Contradiction Reducing” was held in Nanjing University, Xianlin Campus on 24,August. The focal topic of the forum was transforming from contradiction solving to contradiction reducing in handling public complaints and proposals. The whole forum was divided into 5 units, where 16 experts and 3 youth scholars delivered reports and senior experts commented on them.
This year is the 40th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening. In the past 40 years, with the great economic development, the social structure of China has largely changed. The interest demands of the public are becoming more and more diverse and complicated, which has led to unprecedently numerous and different kinds of social contradictions. The report delivered at the 19th National Congress of the CPC has stressed on the importance of strengthening the construction of the mechanism of preventing and solving social contradictions. And the system of public complaints and proposals is the major way of preventing and solving social contradictions. The development and perfection of the system play an important role in the modernization of China’s national governing system and ability.
The forum was hosted by Zijin Media Think Tank, Nanjing Association of Experts in Public Complaints and Proposals, and Institution of Social Risk and Public Crisis Management of Nanjing University, organized by Center for Petition and Social Conflict of Zijin Media Think Tank. All the relevant experts were from universities or institutions like Chinese Academy of Governance, Nanjing University, Tsinghua University, etc.
